No. Special constables are covered by the agreement at the board, commission, university or municipality that employs them, not by a police uniform agreement. The scales are set separately.

Special constables in Ontario are employed by a police services board, transit commission, university or courthouse, and are covered by that employer’s agreement rather than a police uniform agreement. Their pay is set differently from a sworn constable’s, and assuming otherwise is the most common error on these files.

How your pay lands on a mortgage file

This is not a police uniform grid

A sworn constable and a special constable can work in the same building under completely different agreements. Applications built off a police pay figure are simply wrong, in either direction, and get corrected at the worst possible moment.

Shift and court premiums still apply

The work runs evenings, weekends and statutory holidays, and the premiums for that are contractual. Same principle as any uniformed role: it is in the agreement, so it can be evidenced.

Overtime is regular in enforcement roles

Coverage and court attendance generate routine overtime. Two years of T4s is what turns it into countable income.

Full-time permanent status is the thing to confirm

Some special constable roles are part-time or seasonal by design. The employment letter should say which, because it changes which lenders will look at the file.
