Thunder Bay Fire pay grid
1st Class Firefighter rate only. This interest arbitration award sets the 1st Class Firefighter wage rate for the term. The award states classification percentages (1st Class 100%, 2nd Class 90%, 3rd Class 80%, 4th Class 70%, Probation 60%) but does not print dollar figures for any class besides 1st Class, so other classes are not included here to avoid estimating them.
What this step buys
An estimate, not an approval. Send it over and we will confirm it against your own stubs.
Ask Jeff and EmilyThis agreement has expired, so nothing here has changed yet. Under the Labour Relations Act the terms of an expired agreement keep applying while a new one is bargained, and police and firefighters cannot strike, so their rounds go to binding interest arbitration instead. The rates above are still what lands on the stub today. When the award comes it is normally backdated to the day after expiry, which means a lump sum of retroactive pay and a higher base from then on. Both matter on a mortgage file, and they are counted differently.
Arbitration award, Interest arbitration award, AWARD section: 'Wages: January 1, 2023 - $109,300; January 1, 2024 - $112,600' and 'Schedule A ... 1st Class 100%, 2nd Class 90%, 3rd Class 80%, 4th Class 70%, Probation 60%' (percentages only, no dollar figures for non-1st-class ranks in this document). Term expired December 31, 2024 (20 months before verification date); searched the provincial e-Library under 'Corporation Of The City Of Thunder Bay' for a successor filing - none found beyond this award. No successor agreement or newer award was located through provincial e-Library or open web search.. Open the source. Base pay only. Premiums, overtime and paid duty are not in this table. Confirm against your own stub before relying on it.
