This agreement has expired, so nothing here has changed yet. Under the Labour Relations Act the terms of an expired agreement keep applying while a new one is bargained, and police and firefighters cannot strike, so their rounds go to binding interest arbitration instead. The rates above are still what lands on the stub today. When the award comes it is normally backdated to the day after expiry, which means a lump sum of retroactive pay and a higher base from then on. Both matter on a mortgage file, and they are counted differently.

Arbitration award, Interest arbitration award under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, Eli A. Gedalof sole arbitrator, Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Chatham-Kent Professional Fire Fighters Association. 'PROVISIONS AWARD' section, para 26, page 13 of the award: 'Term - 4 years (January 1, 2021-December 31, 2024)' and 'Wages / Wage increases are effective and retroactive as follows, inclusive of interim award: January 1, 2021-$101,901 / January 1, 2022-$104,958 / January 1, 2023-$108,106 / January 1, 2024-$111,249.' The award states these dollar figures as the single base wage line without a printed rank label; the rank is identified as 1st Class Fire Fighter because the arbitrator's comparator analysis throughout is expressed in first class firefighter salary (paras at pages 8 and 10 of the award) and the immediately following 'Wage Differentials' section sets Captain / Training Officer / Fire Prevention Officer at 117% rising to 119%, and Senior Captain at 122% rising to 124%, of that base. No dollar figures are printed for any officer rank and no probationary, 4th, 3rd, or 2nd Class dollar rates appear anywhere in the award, so only the base rate is reported. Term ended 2024-12-31 and the award (Feb 2026) records that the next round remains unresolved.. Open the source. Base pay only. Premiums, overtime and paid duty are not in this table. Confirm against your own stub before relying on it.

What a lender does with this

Base pay off the grid is the easy part. On a frontline file the rest of the T4 is where approvals are won or lost.
